Intermediate School to Hold March Madness Night

March 2, 2012

PR 07212-GIS Family Night

Wednesday, March 7:

GLASSBORO INTERMEDIATE ‘FAMILY NIGHT’

TO OFFER TIPS FOR TEST-TAKING SUCCESS

Glassboro—Glassboro Intermediate School invites students and families to a series of hands-on sessions aimed at improving student confidence and academic performance.  Family Night will take place Wednesday, March 7 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and will begin with pizza and salad for participants.

Four informative breakout sessions will take place following dinner.  The topics grew out of a family survey conducted in January, with focus on succeeding in the NJ ASK, developing engineering skills, tips for navigating PowerSchool and getting teenagers organized to bolster performance.

“The survey helped us tailor the breakout sessions to meet the needs of our families,” said Acting Principal Santina Haldeman.  She added that the event is part of a semester-long, school-wide effort to improve standardized test scores under the theme of “Mission Possible.”

“In the classroom, we are always working with students to prepare them for standardized testing. But this initiative is a broader effort to engage the entire school and families outside the classroom in celebrating our students’ abilities and building confidence,” said Haldeman.

Breakout sessions begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and include the following offerings:
