About the Superintendent |

Dr. Mark Silverstein became Superintendent of Glassboro Schools in July, 2009. Prior to coming to Glassboro, he served as Superintendent of the Hainesport Township School District in Burlington County. During his six-year tenure in the pre-K – 8 district, Silverstein oversaw attainment of the highest test scores in the history of the district, revised all curricula, implemented the district strategic plan and developed a test database for grades 1- 8. Silverstein was involved in two district building referendums and lease purchase expansion and increased revenue with the implementation of a fee-based preschool.
Previously, Silverstein served as Principal of Bridgeton Middle School (2000-2003), Assistant Principal of Carusi Middle School in Cherry Hill (1997-2000) and Vice Principal of Salem High/Middle School (1993-1997). He is currently an adjunct instructor with Fairleigh Dickinson University. Silverstein holds a Doctor of Education degree as well as a master’s degree from Widener University. He earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. He is a member of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and is active in his community as a Master Mason with the New Jersey Masonic Lodge No. 191 in Haddon Heights. He is also a Rotarian in the Rotary of Mt. Holly, and will be transferring his membership to the Glassboro Rotary. He is also on the Board of Directors for Congregation Beth Israel in Woodbury. |
