Special Education Advisory Committee |
|
Was formed in the Spring of 2005 in part as a result of the mandate of the new special education code that stated " Each district board of education shall ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities". In regards to the role and functions of the group, several were identified, including: educating parents, promoting acceptance of students with disabilities, acting as a support group to parents, sponsoring social activities for students with disabilities and promoting greater parent involvement. You do not have to have a child with special needs to participate in the group. We have sent out a survey for the 2009-2010 school year to determine interests and availability for meetings. When we receive the responses we will tally the information and set up an initial meeting schedule. Please return your surveys as soon as possible and if you did not receive one please contact the Child Study Team and we will send you one. |
The second meeting of the Advisory Council for the 2009-2010 school year will be March 9 at the Bullock School at 7:00 pm. We will be discussing possible budget impacts from the State budget on special education. If you plan on attending please rsvp to 652-2700 ext. 74508 or email wlundahl@glassboroschools.us.
